Math Game Monday: Clock Math

Learn a new math game every week, for free

This game encourages players of all ages to think creatively with numbers.

Many parents remember struggling to learn math. We hope to provide a better experience for our children.

And one of the best ways for children to enjoy learning is through hands-on play.

Clock Math

Math Concepts: arithmetic, number properties, mixed operations.

Players: any number.

Equipment: clock, pencil and paper or markers and whiteboard.

How to Play

Watch the display on your analog or digital clock.

How many number expressions or math equations can you make with the time?

For example:

8:24 makes 8 = 2 × 4

10:43 makes 1 + 0 = 4 − 3

1:03 is the prime number 103 = prime time!

Keep a chart, and let family members add a sticker for each clock math expression they find. Whoever wins the most stickers is proclaimed the family’s Clock Math Champion.
