What Is Living Math?
“Living math” means bringing our children face-to-face with the big ideas of mathematics to help them develop their reasoning skills. We want kids to play around with how numbers behave when we put them together or take them apart. How numbers connect to each other in a variety of relationships—and how we can express such relations with algebra. How lines come together to make shapes, and shapes come together to make larger figures.
Math should be much more than just a tool for science, engineering or accounting. When the ideas of math come to life for our children, their minds delight in seeing how numbers and shapes connect to each other and exploring these relationships.
